Born in Benue State, Nigeria, Jeff Varem turned his passion for basketball into an extraordinary journey. He honed his basket skills at Buffalo Traditional High School New York, USA, and later at Vincennes University, Indiana, USA, before starring for the Washington State Cougars from 2003–2005.
Standing at 6’6”, Jeff dominated as a guard/forward, averaging 10.1 points, 6.3 rebounds, and 2 assists per game in college.
After college, Jeff went professional, playing in France, the Philippines, South Korea, and Iran, and earned accolades like PBA Import All-Star in 2009.
Today, Jeff is based in the United States and has transitioned into coaching and youth development. Through the Jeff Varem Basketball foundation, he is actively mentoring young athletes in Benue, organizing elite basketball skills camps in Gboko, and inspiring the next generation of Nigerian basketball stars.
His story reminds us that no dream is too far, no goal too high, when passion meets purpose, greatness follows.
