Prof. Anake, who was recently appointed as Covenant University’s sixth substantive vice-chancellor, has emerged as a shining example of excellence in higher education. Covenant University is recognized as the Times Higher Education (THE) best-ranked university in Nigeria and West Africa. His innovative contributions to numerical techniques, fractional-order differential equations, stability analysis, stochastic processes, and ecological restoration, along with his more than 20 years of experience, make him one of the most renowned thinkers in both pure and applied mathematics.
Prof. Timothy Ashibel Anake is a leading academic, mathematician, and visionary leader from Ketting-Bendi in the Obanliku Local Government Area of Cross River State, Nigeria. His journey started from the humble classrooms of Ketting Primary School and Community Comprehensive Secondary School, Four Towns, Uyo. His love for Mathematics took him to the University of Uyo for his B.Sc., University of Ibadan for M.Sc. and Covenant University for Ph.D.
Prof. Anake is a prolific scholar who has written more than 60 peer-reviewed articles in prestigious international journals that are indexed by Google Scholar, Web of Science, and Scopus. His work, which has been cited more than 872 times and has an impressive h-index of 15 and i10-index of 20, has gained international recognition for tackling important environmental and scientific issues. His groundbreaking publications, like Mathematical Modelling for Green Belt Development (Sustainability, 2022) and Continuous Implicit Hybrid Multistep Method for Ordinary Differential Equations, are praised for their breadth and practical significance.
Honored as a nominee for the prestigious 3rd Heidelberg Laureate Forum in 2015, a prestigious global event that connects eminent mathematicians and computer scientists, including Turing Nobel Prize winners and Fields Medalists, Prof. Anake has presented his research at numerous international conferences, earning accolades for his ability to inspire and engage a global audience of experts.
Beyond his research, Prof. Anake’s leadership has left a transformative legacy in academia. As Dean of the College of Science and Technology (2022–2024), he orchestrated the college’s first international conference on science, technology, and innovation. As Director of the Academic Planning Unit (2019–2022), he aligned Covenant University’s academic programs with global benchmarks, fostering excellence in teaching and research. During his tenure as dean of student affairs (2017–2018), he championed holistic student development, creating a thriving academic environment. Additionally, he has served as Postgraduate Coordinator and Head of the Department of Mathematics (2015-2016), leading curriculum development and supervising research at the postgraduate level.
Prof. Anake’s mentorship has shaped the careers of many young mathematicians and scientists. He has supervised several undergraduate and postgraduate theses and dissertations, including Ph.D. candidates who have made notable contributions in their fields. His commitment to capacity building and education is evident as an external examiner and assessor of doctoral theses and master’s dissertations for academic institutions across Nigeria.
Prof. Anake’s professional affiliations reflect his standing in the global academic community. He belongs to the Edinburgh Mathematical Society (EMS), the Mathematical Association of Nigeria (MAN), the Nigerian Association of Mathematical Physics (NAMP), and the Nigerian Mathematical Society (NMS). He continues to push the boundaries of mathematical and scientific knowledge as an experienced peer reviewer and former editorial board member of the Covenant Journal of Physical and Life Sciences.

Prof. Anake, a pastor at Faith Tabernacle under the Living Faith Church Worldwide (LFCWW) and a devoted Christian, is a prime example of servant leadership. He is contentedly wed to Dr. Winifred Uduak Anake, and the two of them are proud parents of a pair of fraternal twins.
