LAGOS — A diesel-laden tanker has reportedly been involved in a serious accident while climbing the hill at the Ketu Interchange Road in Lagos, causing heavy traffic congestion around the Tollgate axis.
The tanker, which was fully loaded with diesel, reportedly lost its way while ascending the hill, resulting in a spill of its contents onto the road. The incident has disrupted vehicular movement, leaving motorists stranded as emergency responders work to manage the situation.
Reports indicate that a death was recorded in the accident, although further details about the victim and the circumstances surrounding the incident are yet to be confirmed.
Officers of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) are reportedly at the scene, working to control traffic, manage the emergency and coordinate efforts to remove the damaged tanker from the road.
Motorists travelling through Ketu Interchange and the Tollgate corridor are advised to exercise caution, expect significant delays and consider alternative routes where possible.
The diesel spillage also raises safety concerns, as spilled fuel can increase the risk of fire and other hazards. Road users are advised to keep a safe distance from the accident scene and avoid approaching the spilled diesel.
Mystory Nigeria will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates as more verified information becomes available.
